#stayathome 01: Chariot
Vor circa zwei Jahren, da ist er gerade acht geworden, vielleicht aber auch schon ein bisserl früher, habe ich mit meinem älteren Sohn gemeinsam auf der PS4 Chariot gespielt. Ich suche ständig nach sogenannten Co-Op-Spielen, die man zu zweit auf der Couch spielen kann, und "Chariot" war ein absoluter Glücksgriff. Zuvor hatte ich nichts von dem Spiel gehört und – um ehrlich zu sein – auch nachher nichts mehr. Dabei stimmte – für uns zumindest – alles an dem Spiel. Es ist vereinfacht gesagt ein Puzzle-Plattformer und erzählt die Geschichte einer jungen patenten Prinzessin, die sich durch gefährliche Gegenden schlagen muss, um den verstorbenen Leib ihres Vaters an seine letzte Ruhestätte zu bringen, in einem Sarg, auf einem Wagen – dem namensgebenden Chariot. Für Melancholie und Pathos ist trotzdem keine Zeit. Der Geist des verstorbenen Vaters ist wählerisch, er nörgelt gerne und kein Mausoleum mag ihm gefallen Noch grösser muss es sein, noch aufregender die Umgebung. Spielt man zu zweit, kommt noch ein junger Prinz hinzu. Im Tandem ziehen dann die beiden geschickten Sprösslinge den Wagen an Seilen hinter sich her, hieven ihn auf erhöhte Plattformen und müssen dabei ständig darauf achten, dass er nicht umkippt. Sonst endet das Spiel.
„Are we there yet?“
Das Prinzip ist simpel, die Seile sind nur begrenzt lang und es geht vor allem darum, schnell gemeinsam Physik zu lernen, um an die zunehmend schwieriger zu erreichenden Endpunkte zu gelangen. Damit uns nicht langweilig wird ,wird das Ganze dann in verschiedenen Welten durch Glatteis, aufsteigende Lava und Treibsand erschwert und durch kleine hinterhältige Biester, die unsere Schätze stehlen wollen, die wir so en passant einsammeln. Etwas Magie steht uns auch zur Verfügung, mit deren Hilfe wir zum Beispiel die Zeit verlangsamen oder den Leichenwagen wegstoßen können.
Das Ganze fühlt sich erstaunlich dynamisch und natürlich an. Die Lautenmusik und die quietschbunte Umgebung nerven auch nach vielen Stunden nicht. (Keine Ahnung wie das überhaupt möglich ist.) Man kriegt bald ein Gespür für die physikalischen Regeln der Spielwelt und lernt, diese spielerisch auszunutzen. Dabei gibt es immer wieder Stellen, die zumindest meiner Ansicht nach „absurd schwer“ sind. Und es zeichnet das Spiel aus, dass ich gemeinsam mit meinem Buben trotzdem nie aufgab, und dieses eine verdammte Lavalevel halt dreißig Mal ausprobiert habe, bis wir es dann doch geschafft haben. Und ja, das war ein erhabener Moment, den wir da zu zweit geteilt haben. Wir waren wirklich aufgekratzt, Glückshormone, quasi Hilfsbegriff. Eventuell hätten wir uns ähnlich gefühlt, wenn wir gemeinsam ein Baumhaus gebaut hätten oder einen Halbmarathon gelaufen wären. Wer kann das schon sagen? Beides recht unrealistische Szenarios, das nur angemerkt.

Wer also Lust hat, mit einer oder einem Heranwachsenden ab- geschätzt - acht Jahren ein schönes, intelligentes und witziges Puzzle-Plattformer Spiel zu spielen, der sollte unbedingt nach Chariot greifen.
