Screenshot deluxe: Steam Postcards 1

Es freut mich, ein neues wöchentliches Feature vorzustellen zu können, für das ich gerne die VGT-Formatvorgabe für Bilder verlasse: Ab sofort wird der von mir sehr geschätzte und hier bereits gewürdigte Iain Andrews von Steam Postcards auf dieser bescheidenen Seite wöchentlich eine seiner In-Game-Fotografieren präsentieren - Videogametourism im Wortsinn. Nach einer kreativen Pause ist er übrigens gerade dabei, in Max Payne 3 und Alan Wake wieder auf Fotosafari zu gehen - neue Postkarten sind also grad in Produktion.

Die Screenshots des Australiers unterscheiden sich stark von dem, was man sonst von Screenshots kennt; er konzentriert sich auf die Nebensächlichkeiten, die Details am Rand, das Leben abseits der Action. Trotzdem oder gerade deshalb zeigen seine Bilder, wie viel Liebe und Kunst in Spielen steckt.

We are proud to present a new weekly feature: The talented in-game-photographer Iain Andrews will be gracing this modest page with a weekly Steam Postcard - yes, this could literally be called video game tourism. After a bit of a creative break (owing to League of Legends) he is at the moment looking forward to wrestling new snapshots from the depths of Max Payne 3 and Alan Wake.

Iain's work differs starkly from other, more conventional screenshots: His focus is on the margins, the details, off-center from the action. Nevertheless - or maybe because of this - his images show the amount of love and art to be found in games.
